The undersigned H.0.Lange, Managing Director of

the Nordisk Fjerfabrik, A/S. of Copenhagen, declares herewith in lieu of oath, that the 10,000 bales of feathers which we

have bought in China since the outbreak of war and which are lying over there for account of the Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation, were not bought either directly or in- directly for, or for account of, any firm domiciled in a country at present at war with Great Britain; also that no part whatever of these goods, neither the 2000 bales which have alrea

dy reached us, not the 8000 bales which are still lying in Hongkong, have been sold, or will be sold by us, directly or indirectly, to any German firm or any other fims in a

country which is at war with Great Britain.

Our ss. "Ésten" was bought only in order to secure a

cheaper rate of freight for our goods, as the freight, accord-

ing to the rate charged by the East-Asiatic Co., would

amount to about Ir. 500.000.

Therefore, as we could

buy the as. "østen" for Kr. 775.300 and secure also a good freight for her on her way to the Far East, we deemed it best

to buy the vessel.

The information given to the Foreign Trade Department

is consequently a mischievous one which we herewith, on oath, declare to be a libel and a proof of the improbability of same may be found in the fact that of the 2000 bales (part of the above-mentioned 13,000), arrived on April 1st (per steamers
